Sarasota FL Makes Penske's 2012 Top Moving Destinations List
Sarasota, Florida, once again, hits the top of a list promoting its accolades. Penske Truck Rental recently released a report ranking Sarasota #10 in the US among moving destinations.
Others named to the list were mostly major cities. Although Sarasota is a small city with a “big-city feel,” the area for this report included Bradenton, Venice, and North Port. Sarasota is the largest of these municipalities in land and population. Penske compiles the list after reviewing online consumer truck rental reservations and inquiries. One way moves for 2012 were the only records analyzed.
2012 Top 10 List
Don Miles, Penske’s Senior Vice President of Rental Operations noted “this list fits the geographic shifts of the country’s population, with our customers being drawn to the Southeast and Southwest regions.” Atlanta has topped Penske’s list in its three-year history. Sarasota was no. 9 on the 2011 list.
For those of us who live in Sarasota, this news is not surprising. Although we are a small city, our residents and visitors enjoy, not only some of the world’s best beaches, but also cultural amenities offered by many of the top ranking cites. We have an incredible ballet, outstanding opera as well as wonderful symphony performances. If you are a sports fanatic, Tampa is one hour away where you can take in a football, baseball or hockey game. There are also more than 80 golf courses in the Sarasota area.
The Sarasota real estate market has been undergoing an adjustment along with the rest of the country and our customers have been watching the market for quite awhile. Buyers are taking advantage of prices which are still low along with low interest rates. The inventory is also quite low, however, there is still an excellent selection of properties for those dreaming of warm weather and ocean breezes.
